I guess this officially makes me a historian

POSTED BY: CARDENAS.AE@GMAIL.COM JANUARY 28, 2019

You’re never too old to learn. At the tender age of 70 I received my Masters in History from Texas State University. Thanks to my wife and children for their support and encouragement.

How proud your family must be. What energy you must have Alfredo. Keep up the good work you do. I always enjoy hearing about my home town and Duval County. We never lived in San Diego. My Dad left us a ranch in Bess, Texas. Please tell me why I don’t hear the word BESS, Texas anymore. I was born there…..
    Congratulations♥️

Alfredo congratulations, to compete against the younger crowd is a bit tough, but our wisdom and knowledge let us succeed above and beyond.

Congratulations! It is 2019 when people enroll in college in their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s….that’s as far as I have heard. You are young! Your mind is great, and you inspire others. I enjoy your writings. Thanks for sharing.

Good for you! I started at A & I in 1958. (I am from Alice). Over the years I took courses here and there and sent the records back to Kingsville. In 2001, I went back and finished. I walked across the stage at age sixty-one, also with a major in history. I love what you are doing. Old stories of the Nueces Strip are legend, even the ones from the fifties and sixties. I spoke to Oscar Wyatt while he was still coherent and he said he gave the eulogy at Archer’s funeral. i grew up with Arnold Wiederkuhr and Charles Tiny Drinnan from Freer.

Congratulations Mr. Cardenas, Its never too late to achieve goals in life. I follow you and all your posts and have always learned from you. So you were a historian long before you got the actual certificate to indicate it.

Well good for you! It’s never too late to learn. I love the history of our area and other world countries. It’s so interesting to learn from the past. I’m very happy for you. As you probably know my dad’s family came from there. You recently posted an item where my grandfather, Teodoro Z. Sendejo, City Marshall of San Diego captured someone who stole some money from a business. I always enjoy your articles. Which I lived closer so we could get together and converse. Are you going to the annual hispanic genealogical and historical meet in Dallas next October sponsored by HOGAR?
    You could be a presenter.

Thank you, Xavier. I have some good Sendejo friends, Luis, Pete, and Mario, although I have not seen Luis or Pete in many years. I do plan to be at the HOGAR convention this year. As far as presenting, I have not received an invite but I have presented at previous state conventions in Corpus Christi and Austin. I do hope to have a table in the exhibit hall. Hope to see you there.
